Ash bark has some very distinctive lichens especially where it is not in shady woodland. This Ash is very fast grown, producing dense timber with high strength, but also greater shrinkage when drying. It was planted 20 years ago near Debenham.
This chair and 2 other designs in Ash & Sweet Chestnut will be on my stand at the Norfolk Show 28th & 29th June in the ‘Forestry & Wood village’. I will be demonstrating chair making and talking to anyone interested, and also taking orders.
This Ash chair is possibly going to be for a book shop with a children’s section. It is also strong enough for an adult to stand on. It has 5 grown bends and 2 steam bent parts.
