Leo Wood Bladesmith Honor Surie Painter Dan Hussey Chair Maker
Invite you to a joint exhibition 23rd July – 29th July 2020
The arms of this armchair sweep down which means they don’t get in the way of your elbows if you are knitting a jumper, or doing other work.
A lovely table made from 3 inch Oak. The 35mm top is made of 3 boards joined together with 10 loose tenons. Designed by my dad for their house.
At the 3 leg stage.
This shows the regrowth of coppice Sweet Chestnut in Castan Wood after 1 year.
This shows coppice regrowth after 25 years.
The shape of the front leg follows the grain in the Ash tree. When the leading shoot of the young tree is eaten by a deer a side shoot takes over and creates this pattern. If you split the tree in half 25 years later and season it for a year you get a right leg and a left leg. There are 9 grown bends in this design, and 25 steam bent parts.
High back Armchair in Ash, using some grown bends and some steam bent parts.
These 6 chairs just delivered to Leicester to go with a gate-legged Oak table.
