Here are two pictures of Bradfield woods in Suffolk. This wood has been continuously worked as a coppice since before 1252, so I am lucky to have such an amazing wood to supply me with the best coppiced Ash. Bradfield woods is also a site of special scientific interest.

The first picture shows the harvesting of coppiced Ash poles 6 to 8 inches in diameter, and the construction of a deer proof fence from brushwood.

The second picture shows a coppice ‘stool’ 7 years after the trees were cut down.

This is my best selling chair called No.1 chair. Made from coppiced Ash from Bradfield woods in Suffolk, I have been making this design for 20 years now, although it has developed over the years. The light blue chair is an earlier version.
